neutrogena protect + tint tinted moisturizer SPF 30

Below you will find my next installment of “foundation 2020”

What exactly is a “tinted moisturizer” anyway?

  • the short answer is they are a light foundation used to even out our complexions…not the same thing as foundation because they don’t contain the same amount of color pigments.
  • they will often contain things like SPF or other moisturizing ingredients like hyuralonic acid…in fact they are more moisturizing than the average foundation.
  • you are able to wear them on their own or combined with other foundations. They might actually help your foundation function better when combined with a tinted moisturizer.
  • for me, they are awesome because they have just enough coverage to get rid of my blemishes but not enough to make me feel like I’m wearing heavy foundation. I…HATE…HEAVY…FOUNDATION {I know you have heard me say that before}
  • they come in oil-free formulas so not only dry skin girls can take advantage of these awesome gifts from the makeup aisle

Let’s just get that out of the way first.

I purchased this in January and I have been using it ever since. I purchased the color {which will definitely have to be replaced with a “summer” color}

This is not a heavy coverage but I also think it’s more than the average tinted moisturizer. I would say, in my humble opinion, that it is a light\medium coverage.

It goes on so easy. I use a beauty blender but it applies just as well with your fingers if that is how you prefer to apply your foundation.

This gives me an even complexion that I just love.

I do have blemishes that I’ve shared about before and if necessary this one pairs well with my favorite concealer for extra coverage in those areas. They blend well together leaving me with an even skin tone.

It does not dry to a matte finish, neither is it a dewy one. Instead, it’s just a pretty satiny finish that works well with both oily and dry skin. Very rarely is there a product that works well with both skin types, this is one of them. Also, in case you were wondering it has none of the shimmer that is sometimes common in a tinted moisturizer.

This image is from the NEUTROGENA site.

It comes in FIVE shades which is a little limited and might be a downfall if you don’t really fit one of these available shades…{fair to light, ivory to fair, light to tan, medium to deep, tan to medium}

As I mentioned earlier, tinted moisturizers will sometimes contain extra ingredients that help your skin in some way for this one those ingredients are…

  • Vitamin A || helps to prevent sun damage by helping to prevent collagen reduction. It can also help to prevent breakouts and is a natural moisturizer.
  • Vitamin C || helps to reduce the production of melanin which in turns lightens hyperpigmentation {brown spots} and helps to even out our skin tone.
  • Vitamin E || helps to limit the skin’s oil production, as well as fight off free radicals (things in our environment that will damage our skin). It will strengthen the skin’s barrier to help fight off those damaging effects of daily life.

Would I recommend this product to your girls?

If you have never used a tinted moisturizer this is a great one to start with especially since summer is just around the corner {yeah, yeah, I know it’s three months away, but a girl can dream right?}
