Product Review: HASK Rose Oil and Peach Color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner

All winter I talked and talked about how important it was to take care of your skin. If you have skin, it’s no secret that the cold dry winter months are HARD on it. Regardless of your skin type, but even more so if you have dry skin.

Summer, well that’s different.

In those summer months, we switch from skin to hair. All this week I will feature products that will help our hair during summer and on Thursday I will go more in-depth on why our locks need extra attention.

I LOVE HASK products and I have featured them numerous times on my blog. When I launch my new site later on this month, one of my “10 Most Favorite Things” is a HASK product.

HASK has been on drugstore shelves for a while and they were a forerunner to the “sulfate and paraben” free movement. If memory serves me they were one of the first to offer that.

If you are unaware of what sulfates and parabens are I will give you a quick lesson.

  • Parabens | are chemicals that are added to keep bacteria out of products such as shampoo, lotions, lipstick, and countless other products. This acts as a preservative of sorts.
  • Sulfates | are chemicals that make products foam and cleanse and as you can guess they are added to shampoos to help them…well, foam!

So, why is it important to use shampoos that are paraben and sulfate free?

  • if you have dry or frizzy hair the use of shampoos with sulfates could potentially make it more dry and frizzy. Sulfates help to strip our hair in an effort to make it easier to wash, however, that can also strip the hair’s natural oils, leaving it more dry.
  • if you color-treat your hair using shampoo and conditioners that contain parabens and sulfates will cause your color to fade quicker than those without those two ingredients.

All I had to hear was that it MIGHT cause my hair color to fade and I was a believer, I immediately went on a hunt for a paraben and sulfate free option. That was several years ago and over those years I have used a number of great shampoos.

However, one thing I can say with a certainty is that…this shampoo and conditioner, SMELLS THE BEST of any I have ever used.

The SMELL IS INCREDIBLE. I can’t even begin to explain how awesome. You will just have to trust me.

According to it’s website, they use an organic rose oil, a peach extract and hydrolyzed quinoa.

The Rose Oil | is used to help reduce frizz while adding shine. It will also keep your color from fading.
Hydrolyzed Quinoa | this one is a natural protein that is used to help us keep our color vibrant and our locks conditioned and protected.
Peach Extract | Is used in conjunction with the quinoa to help our color from fading.

Would I recommend this product?

Yes, absolutely.

I have been using this one for a couple of months. Since I don’t wash my hair everyday my shampoo and conditioner seem to last me a long time. I have noticed since I started using it my hair color stays brighter and less dull.

This is a new product and it isn’t on the Walmart website, but I purchased it from there.
