The Best of… Self-Tanner Month

The most “requested topic” I’ve had since starting the blog was self-tanning. I have been an avid supporter of self-tanning for years so I was excited to pass along everything I have learned over the many years I’ve been doing it.

Trying out these new products was fun and informative. I found some new favorites and some products to use throughout the year!

The one thing I am more convinced than ever…well maybe, more than one thing.

  • Self-Tanners have changed (for the better) so much, even in the last few years, that anyone, regardless of skill level can use it!
  • Anyone can find quality self-tanning products at the drugstore.

In order to make things more simple, I have taken all the products that I have reviewed and put them here in this post with a quick review of why I liked them.

All of these are linked with their full reviews. If you are interested in reading those click on the name of each product!

My OG…my one and only…my very favorite!

This one has been my favorite for a few years. I didn’t review anything that I like more than this one. Nothing that would make me completely give this up. Not that I haven’t found some I love and still use.

This one though…it’s is awesome.

It comes in as the cheapest option on the list and absolutely gives the darkest smoothest tan of any I reviewed.

Best for Fair-Skinned Girls (and winner of the smells Best award)

In order to have the most natural looking tan, you have to consider your skin tone. If you are super fair-skinned or if you don’t tan dark when you are out in the sun, then putting an extremely dark formula will not give you satisfactory results. Just like a pair of jeans…self-tanners are not one- size fits all!

In general, it is my opinion that self-tanners that come in a water mousse are very easy to use. I would also but this on my “Best for Beginners” list.

Fastest Drying Time

I’m still amazed at how fast this product dries. It really does dry in about 60 seconds. This one also produces a dark natural looking tan. I will continue to use this on days when I am in a hurry and I also plan to carry it with me to Disney. I know that I will need the quick dry of this product while I am there.

Best for Beginners

I can completely understand how someone could be scared of self-tanning. I mean the threat of waking up orange is serious! However, I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to be scared. As I have mentioned before, the sunless tanning industry has changed so much in the last few years it’s CRAZY!

This product here was the easiest I have ever put on. It glides on the skin so smoothly. If you have ever wanted to try one I would absolutely recommend this one!

Favorite New Product

This was my favorite new product. It makes you DARK. I was surprised by the depth of color I was able to achieve. Be cautious! because it is a little difficult to work with and I wouldn’t suggest this for beginners. If you have been self-tanning for a while I would recommend giving this one a try. It has a guide and that guide does contain a fair amount of glitter. Don’t be scared though because it will wash away after your first shower.

the Gradual Tanners

I reviewed two of these this month and I liked each of these for different reasons.

The fact that this one smells like fruity pebbles is just awesome!

I love this one. It produces a great tan and for the amount of product you get for the price it is an amazing deal. I would recommend this one for the girl who uses a gradual tanner to extend their sunless tan.

This one is a great gradual tanner and it can get you pretty dark. I have used this one for a LONG time, like maybe 10 years! I would suggest this one for the girl that is using this instead of a standard self-tanner. I have used this both ways over the years, I have used it as an extender for my sunless tan and I have used it on its own!
